The Barriers

  • Adolescent Marriage

    Poor Indian girls are often sold into marriage and may endure severe abuse, rape, and exploitation by their husbands. Our school community promotes female education through college.

  • Child Labor

    The 2011 national census reported that there were 10 million child laborers, aged 5–14. Access to quality education and social support keeps these children in school, instead of inescapable labor.

  • Generational Poverty

    35-60 million Indian children are not attending school. Bloom provides scholarships for underprivileged children to attend high-quality schools allowing them to break the cycle of poverty and provide for their families.

  • Sex Trafficking

    It is estimated that 1 out of 4 victims of human trafficking are children. When you are in school, you are known. Bloom India schools provide a valuable social network for these children and families.

  • Social Discrimination

    Bloom India schools serve many students from the lowest-castes. Education is Freedom for these families, allowing them to break the bonds of strict social codes.

Our Work

  • EDUCATION

    We serve India’s impoverished communities by establishing exceptional academies, including our STEM centers which supports over 2000 students through hands-on learning focused on science and math. Students see a 20% increase in their grades after taking STEM classes.

  • MEAL PROGRAM

    Bloom provides a vital meal program to ensure their holistic well-being of our students. By providing hot, nutritious meals, Bloom helps children stay healthy, focused, and ready to learn. This initiative addresses food insecurity, enabling students to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

  • SCHOLARSHIPS

    Scholarships are gateways to dreams and opportunities. Our graduates benefit from various Bloom India scholarships, empowering them to pursue higher education. The Annamma Paul Memorial Scholarship honors Abe Paul’s mother by continuing her generous spirit and dedication to the medical profession. It is awarded to a graduating female from Bloom India who aspires to further her education in the medical field.

  • LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

    Through specialized training, mentorship, and resources, Bloom equips educators with the skills to lead their students to success. This program builds a strong network of dedicated teachers, all working towards the shared goal of unlocking each child’s potential and shaping a brighter future.

  • MEDICAL CAMP

    We conduct medical camps for our students to further our holistic goals and ensure their overall well-being. These camps provide essential health check-ups, health education workshops on hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care, and the distribution of necessary medications and health supplies, including eyeglasses.

  • TRANSPORTATION

    Despite the challenges, some of our students, showing incredible resilience, walk about an hour to get to school, even in the midst of the heavy monsoon season. Our transportation program provides an essential resource to our students so that they can save their energy for the classroom instead of the journey to school.

  • Exceptionally Qualified: All of our STEM teachers have a Master’s level degree in science and math.

  • Sacrificial Commitment: Many of our teachers go above and beyond their call — staying late in the evenings and working on weekends to ensure that students grasp the curriculum and complete their assignments.

  • High Faculty Retention: We have dedicated teachers, averaging 8-10 years, and some with up to 16 years of service.
